Since its inception, over 220 Master’s and 60 Doctoral students have graduated from the Department. Most of these students are well placed in either national or international research institutions, state departments of agriculture and in the private sector and have continued to exhibit high standards of performance and excellence. Of the 285 theses, over 45 percent are in the area of plant stress physiology, reflecting the major focus of the Department. All the Ph.D. and 50 per cent of Master’s students have availed fellowships from various agencies like Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), UAS Merit Scholarship, Adhoc projects and private agriculture-based companies. Most of the graduate students have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by ICAR and CSIR-UGC. Majority of the students graduating from the department have been able to find better placement. More than 95 per cent of the doctoral degree candidates are engaged in teaching and/or research activities in the national and international organizations.
